Be Bold and change lives

Jaylan's story

Jaylan is a 3-year-old boy who was born profoundly deaf. At 5 weeks old Jaylan received hearing aids and at 9 months he received bilateral cochlear implants through the NextSense cochlear implant program.

Since the surgery, Jaylan has been receiving support through connected services. Jaylan and his family live in Bathurst and travelling to Sydney for weekly support was not feasible–especially with two young brothers. Mum, Courtney says, “if it wasn’t for NextSense connected services, we would have had to move to Sydney to ensure Jaylan could receive the support he needed.”

You can help redefine what’s possible for children like Jaylan by registering to Be Bold today.

Sora's story

Sora was diagnosed with blindness at just four months old, but despite the challenges she faced she has recently started primary school alongside children her own age. This was largely down to the early intervention program delivered by NextSense.

Without early, intensive support, children like Sora with vision loss will fall behind, which could mean they miss out on the chance to start school and make friends. Sora works with a vision therapist consultant so that she can continue to be supported and progress into high school, college, or university later in life.

Register to Be Bold and help children like Sora reach their full potential.

Willow's Story

Willow is an energetic two-year-old with a big personality. Born with down syndrome and hearing loss, Willow was only weeks old when she was introduced to the team at NextSense. Mum, Jackie says that looking back, that’s when everything started to change for the better.

Working weekly with a speech pathologist and occupational therapist, Willow’s progression has come in leaps and bounds. At just -two-years-old Willow knows 15 words in Auslan and is communicating with mum and dad, and the world around her.

Everyone has the right to communication and NextSense has helped give Willow this privilege. Be Bold and help children like Willow break through barriers and achieve their potential.
